Between the late afternoon hours of Saturday (March 22) and early morning hours of Sunday (March 23), three local businesses within close proximity of each other were burglarized. While the suspect(s) were inside the businesses, the properties were vandalized, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

The Midland Heights United Methodist Church found that unknown person(s) entered their fellowship hall and stole eggs, ice cream and a fire extinguisher. The items were used to vandalize a church van parked on the property, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

An unknown person(s) also broke into a work shop and office area of the ABC Block Company located on North "O" Street. A fire extinguisher was dispersed throughout the inside of the business, and various walls were spray painted with profanities, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

Merit Steel, located on Midland Boulevard, was also broken into by an unknown person(s). A fire extinguisher was sprayed throughout the inside of this business as well. Graffiti was spray painted on various walls, computers and car windows, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

Authorities believe these crimes are connected due to the similarities found within each business. Anyone with information about these crimes is encouraged to call the Fort Smith Police Department at 479-709-5100 or call the River Valley Crimestoppers at 78-CRIME.

This sounds like teens with too much time on their hands and too little parental supervision during spring break. They should have
community service for a year and the parents should have to do it with them. Until parents are held accountable there will continue to be this type of unacceptable behavior

  • Kids Kids Kids

Sound’s like when these teens are found they better get more then a slap on the hand! And just like the earlier comment suggested the parents need to be beside them! Our system is to lenient on parents & kids these day’s when it comes to vandalism & thing’s of this nature. Stop it early and you will stop a lot of problems in the future. It’s no different today then it was in the past! Both parents worked and we were held responsible for our childrens actions! We were expected to find responsible people to look after our kid’s while we worked! There was no day care or government programs! We paid the neighbor or paid family members. But we found someone! That’s what parent’s did.. because it was against the law to leave them home alone! And we got no tax deduction for it! What has happend that these kid’s are left to do as they please & destroy peoples property & these parents have no idea where or what they are doing!
