Between the late afternoon hours of Saturday (March 22) and early morning hours of Sunday (March 23), three local businesses within close proximity of each other were burglarized. While the suspect(s) were inside the businesses, the properties were vandalized, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

The Midland Heights United Methodist Church found that unknown person(s) entered their fellowship hall and stole eggs, ice cream and a fire extinguisher. The items were used to vandalize a church van parked on the property, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

An unknown person(s) also broke into a work shop and office area of the ABC Block Company located on North "O" Street. A fire extinguisher was dispersed throughout the inside of the business, and various walls were spray painted with profanities, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

Merit Steel, located on Midland Boulevard, was also broken into by an unknown person(s). A fire extinguisher was sprayed throughout the inside of this business as well. Graffiti was spray painted on various walls, computers and car windows, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

Authorities believe these crimes are connected due to the similarities found within each business. Anyone with information about these crimes is encouraged to call the Fort Smith Police Department at 479-709-5100 or call the River Valley Crimestoppers at 78-CRIME.
