Safety and injury prevention will be the main topics for the Spring Break event at the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club Thursday (March 27).

A Sebastian County coalition called "Your Cares Our Concerns" partnered with the Boys & Girls Club to put on the educational experience.

The event will feature interactive games and learning opportunities aimed at tobacco and alcohol awareness and prevention. Kids will also learn about bike and ATV safety so they're prepared as the warmer weather nears.

Live venomous snakes and various insects will be on display to teach kids about the different species and what to look out for in the wild.

There will be a demonstration from the Sebastian County Sheriff's K9 Unit, and the Fort Smith Fire Department will have its "smoke house" on site to teach children about fire safety.

The event will be held at the Evans Boys & Girls Club from 1:30-4 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.
