On Wednesday (March 26) the Springdale Police Department responded to the Johnson Meadows Apartments due to reports of a fight, according to Public Information Officer Lt. Derek Hudson.

A male was reportedly making threats to kick in an apartment door. An officer showed up and found the suspect outside and in possession of a handgun. The suspect was then identified as James King, 56.

King was found to be a convicted felon on active parole and was placed in custody. King’s Parole Officer was then called to the scene.

A search of King’s residence found drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash.

A Springdale Police K-9 was also taken to the scene, and it alerted offers to a container hidden under debris in the back yard. Upon opening the container, officers found 41.5 grams of marijuana in individually wrapped bags and 17.7 grams of meth, according to Hudson.

The firearm that King had on him was reportedly stolen out of Gentry.

King was charged with six felony charges; Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance w/Purpose to Deliver (meth), Possession of a Controlled Substance w/Purpose to Deliver (marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Theft by Receiving (firearm).

He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where is remains waiting for his hearing.
