Forget a simple phone call, parents-to-be are now throwing parties to share with family and friends if they're having a boy or girl.

Gender reveal parties are all the rage right now, so here are some simple ways you can get everyone in on the fun of finding out baby’s gender.

First, pick how you’ll reveal.

There are different options to consider. You can get a big box, decorate it, and put blue or pink balloons inside that will pop out when you open the lid. You can also decorate two small boxes, one for mom and dad. When you flip them over, blue or pink streamers and balloons will fall out of the box.

How about confetti poppers? Everyone can get in on this fun! Conceal the identity of the color by using wrapping paper; you can also find pre-made poppers on sites like Etsy.com.

Love sweets? Bake a cake with food coloring on the inside of it. When you slice a piece, the color of baby’s gender is revealed. Bakeries can also fill the inside of the cake with pink or blue candy.

Don’t forget to add decorations. You can find different theme ideas and even printouts of Old Wives’ Tales to keep guests guessing on Pinterest.com. Another great website to get ideas is TheGenderReveal.com.

I found great information on all the websites listed in this story. We ended up having a mustache and lips theme with confetti poppers to reveal baby's gender. By the way, my husband Curt and I are expecting a boy July 8!

If you’re still preparing for baby, don’t forget to head out to the World’s Largest Baby Shower Saturday (March 29). The event kicks off at 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Springdale.

Hope to see you there!
