A Mulberry business was damaged in an early morning fire on Wednesday (April 2).
Mulberry fire crews say it happened at Crawford County Pallets on South Main street aound 3:00 a.m.
No one was inside and the time and there were no injuries, according to fire crews.
Crawford County Pallets produces wood pallets and the building contained materials such as wood chips and sawdust, which fueled the flames.
“We’ve been to the pallet plant multiple times in the past 20 years, so this had been an issue before most of the time it has been a sawdust issue where the machine would spark and catch some sawdust, ” said the Mulberry Fire Chief.
Crews were able to contain the fire, and stayed on scene as they let the fire burn itself out.
“We really don’t have a determination right now on what caused this, ” said the Mulberry Fire Chief, “It appears to have started inside the building so it could have been an equipment malfunction, electrical, but we will be investigating that.”
The company says only one building on the site was affected.
Operations are expected back up and running Thursday morning, according to Mulberry Mayor Gary Baxter.
Crews say they are still investigating the cause.
