Northwest Arkansas was under a tornado watch for most of the afternoon and evening after the potential for severe weather, but only hail and rain ended up falling on the area.

Quarter-sized hail fell on Pea Ridge, and pea-sized hail hit Bentonville and Bella Vista. Looming black clouds also brought a short bout of heavy rain early Thursday night.

One local said Arkansas has some of the most unpredictable weather he has ever been around, and Thursday's weather was something he wasn't used to seeing.

"I've lived in this area my whole life, and usually something like that, you see the sky turning green and heavy rains come---you usually assume a pretty heavy thunderstorm is coming," said Blake Kastel.

Another resident was home when the storm passed through and said she was relieved her home did not sustain any damage. No major damage were reported in Northwest Arkansas.

"I'm very thankful...glad that we were prepared, but glad that it was lighter than expected, " said Michelle Rudder.

After the wind and heavy rain blew through, locals saw a double rainbow and a watercolor sunset.

The tornado watch for Northwest Arkansas expired at 9:30 p.m., and the severe thunderstorm warning expired earlier in the night.
