Public schools in Cameron, Okla., are closed Monday (April 7) because of a boil order in one LeFlore County water district, a school official said.
The school district will make a decision Monday whether to cancel classes also on Tuesday, said Jim Caughern, Cameron Public Schools superintendent. The school district has 330 students.
A malfunction at a water treatment plant in LeFlore County Rural Water District 14 led to the boil order, Caughern said. The water district has sent a water sample to Oklahoma City to be tested for safety, he said.
Rather than take a chance that any school children might get sick from unsafe water, Caughern said the decision was make to cancel classes.
