A local non-for-profit is serving families who make under $58 thousand a year by helping them file their state and federal taxes for free.

Executive Director Kimberly Porter said the Care Community Center in Rogers was created because the last few years have been tough on low income families.

“We want to make sure that hard working families get the tax credits that they deserve by helping them file for free, get a direct deposit or that paper check. We know we’ve done the right thing for these families, ” said Porter.

The Care Community Center in Rogers is open 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

There are also two other locations: the Jones Center for Families in Springdale and the Center for Nonprofits in Rogers.

The Jones Center will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as well as Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Center for Nonprofits is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon

They also have a free online filing service on their website.

Porter said in total they have served 110 families and completed over 2600 returns.

She wanted to remind people that the deadline to file state and federal taxes is April 15.
