T.J. Teed is set to announce his candidacy for Centerton mayor on Monday (April 7) at 6 p.m. in City Hall.

Teed was a member of the Carthage, Mo., City Council from 2008 to 2012, serving as chairman of the Financial and Personnel Committee. He also was director of Smoke Free Carthage, according to a news release.

“Our next mayor must be fiscally conservative and have a clear vision to lead Centerton to a bright and prosperous future,” Teed says in the news release. “We should no longer be looked at as simply a small town, but as a growing and thriving community.”

Mayor Bill Edwards is seeking re-election.

In a recent Facebook post, Edwards asserted that many of Teed’s campaign ideas are already underway in Centerton.

“I will not say negative things against my opponent but as I read his website I don’t see anything new he will do,” Edwards wrote. “There has been a lot of hard work put in by our team and we are booming.”

The election is Nov. 4.
