Benton County leaders on Tuesday night voted to approve spending about $8,200 to fund a road study concerning the Bentonville School District’s planned second high school in Centerton.

Supt. Michael Poore appeared at the Benton County Committee of the Whole meeting to ask the county for the road study money. He said the study would be used to determine what improvements or modifications should be made to existing roads near the location of Bentonville West High School on Gamble Road in Centerton.

Administrators want the traffic in and around the school area to be safe and efficient, so various improvements may be needed, including some turn lanes and road widening projects, officials said.

The appropriation passed the committee unanimously.
