More than two years after a local church lost its facility to the City of Springdale, the church family has finally found a new home.
Victory Church and its Pastor Billy Coffman have acquired 15 acres of land in Tontitown they will build on when they settle their eminent domain case with Springdale. In the meantime, they will settle at their new site at 250 Industrial Circle East in Tontitown.
"We are going to make it home," Coffman said. "As long as we need it to be home, it will be our home."
The congregation had been without a permanent church facility for just over two-and-a-half years.
"We more or less just have to give all things to God," said Michael Steenbergen. "It says in Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Coffman said relocating from location to location was difficult for him and his church family to do, but everyone stuck together.
"The people of Victory Church have always been extremely resilient," he said. "They know how to stand in tough times. The wonderful thing is that they just keep on going forward."
As the church moves forward in their new facility, they have already faced some challenges.
"The day we moved in, we ran out of space in every area of the building," Coffman said. "It means that we have to go to multiple services and things like that in order to make it all work. That's okay, though. That is what we are going to do."
Because at the end of the day, the church family is just happy to have a place to call home.
"We finally have a space of our own, and we can do with it as we please," said Krystle Atkinson. "We will make a strong footprint here on the city of Tontitown."
Coffman said the church has leased space on a few local billboards to let people know where the church is located.
Springdale City Council members decided Tuesday night to move forward on seizing and buying some of the church's land. That land will be used for the project connecting Don Tyson Parkway to the interstate.
