Tonight’s lunar eclipse will be visible across Arkansas starting around 1am thru 3am with total eclipse around 2:07am – 3:25am on the morning of Tuesday April 15th, 2014.

The Earth is basically passing between the Moon and the Sun and although most of the light is blocked out, some light will make it to the moon (much like a sunset) which is why it will take on a ‘blood’ color.

You don’t need a telescope or binoculars and it’s safe to view with your eyes unlike solar eclipses.

This eclipse is the start of something called a ‘tetrad’. There will be a total of 4 lunar eclipses in a row. The next three: Oct. 8, 2014, April 4, 2015, & Sept. 28, 2015.

The recent cold front will continue to filter in dry air and skies should be clear for the viewing!
