Two men had to be life-flighted to Saint Johns Hospital in Tulsa after an aircraft they were riding in crashed in Cherokee County, according to a report received Monday (April 14).
The first man was identified as John McCreary, 75, of Ozark. He reportedly had head arms, legs and trunk internal injuries. The second man was identified as Albert Demarco Jr., 85, of Ozark. He reportedly had head and trunk internal injuries.
Both men were transported in stable condition, according to the report.
The pilot of the aircraft, as well as, the pilot’s condition are unknown at this time. The situation is still under investigation.
The airplane was a 1946 Ercoupe and reportedly took off toward the west from the Cookson Airport and circled to the left until it was flying to the north. Witnesses at the airport stated that they could hear what appeared to be engine trouble and saw the plane flying just above the trees before losing sight, according to the report.
The aircraft was later located in a wooded area of a pasture.
