An Arkansas State Police Trooper’s patrol car was struck by a hit and run driver Tuesday morning (April 15) in Fort Smith. Now, all authorities in the River Valley are on the lookout for the driver involved.

Lt. Bryan Davis with Arkansas State Police said the hit and run accident happened on the Interstate 540 bridge that spans the Arkansas River around 6 a.m. The trooper was out working an accident on the bridge, when a car struck the side of the trooper’s patrol car as well as one of the cars of the accident that the trooper was working.

The car that fled the scene is an older model gold Infiniti, according to Arkansas State Police.

Davis said the damage to the trooper’s car was relatively minor. The trooper was not injured.
