CBS News – Some jokes just aren’t funny.

A 14-year-old Dutch girl learned that the hard way when she was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening American Airlines in a tweet.

The incident began Sunday when America Airlines received a Twitter message reading: “Hello my name’s Ibrahim and I’m from Afghanistan. I’m part of Al Qaida and on June 1st I’m going to do something really big bye.”

What the sender apparently didn’t realize is that her Twitter account featured a name, Sarah, as well as a photo and profile of a young girl.

The airline responded promptly: “Sarah, we take these threats very seriously. Your IP address and details will be forwarded to security and the FBI.”

That apparently shook up the poster, who began sending very apologetic tweets. The poster wrote: “omfg I was kidding,” said it was all the fault of “a friend” and and then pleaded: “I’m just a fangirl pls I don’t have evil thoughts and plus I’m a white girl.”

Police spokesman Roland Ekkers said the girl turned herself in to Rotterdam police in the company of a parent and was being questioned. It was not clear what charges, if any, she would face.

Her Twitter account has been suspended.
