The Fort Smith Police Department is currently investigating an overnight robbery that occurred at Doug’s Also, according to a news release from the Sgt. Daniel Grubbs.

Doug’s Also, located on Zero Street, was reportedly robbed just before 12 a.m.

A white male entered the store, brandishing a chrome colored handgun and demanding money, according to the news release. The suspect then walked behind the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect reportedly left the store in a maroon Cadillac.

After the robbery, officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit with a maroon Cadillac found at The Links Apartments.

Pursuing officers lost sight of the vehicle, but they later found the same vehicle on fire near businesses on Old Greenwood Road, according to the news release.

“During the robbery, the suspect was wearing a dark in color hooded sweatshirt and a white bandana covering his face.  However, the clerk reported the suspect had been inside the store only minutes prior to the robbery,” the news release states.

Anyone with information on the identify of this suspect is encouraged to call the Fort Smith Police Department at 479-709-5100. They can also call the River Valley Crimestoppers Tip Line at 78-CRIME.
