Fayetteville Egg Drop A Success

Families enjoyed a unique Easter Egg Hunt experience Saturday at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Families enjoyed a unique Easter Egg Hunt experience Saturday at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

A helicopter dropped 30,000 plastic eggs, stocked with candy, as kids waited behind a roped off area. Then they were released, filling their baskets with goodies.

The event, sponsored by Pathway Baptist Church, was free.

Members said the event is a way for the congregation to give back to the community.

"This is the one thing a year that our church decided to do for the community, most of the events that we do are really things for our congregation, but we wanted to find one thing a year that we just put on for the city of Fayetteville and the surrounding area so we are so excited to see it grow," said Pathway Baptist Church Pastor Jeremy Flanagan

Flanagan estimated close to 4,000 people attended the drop. That beats their previous record of 2,000.
