Arkansas continued their dominance in SEC series finales on Sunday as they took down Vanderbilt 3-1 at Baum Stadium.

The Razorbacks (25-16, 9-9 SEC) improved to 5-1 in game three of SEC series this season.

“We pitch pretty well on Sundays, and our older guys with a little more experience have been taking over, like Wise, Spoon and Anderson,”  Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said. “We keep hammering how important these Sunday games are to our guys and they’ve done a good job.  Hopefully we’ll keep doing it.”

Chris Oliver 6 2/3 innings while allowing just one run and struck out two to pick up his fifth win.

“I thought he was pretty good,” Van Horn said of Oliver. “I felt like he lost some velocity and location late with his fastball. For Oliver to be good he just has to throw strikes down and he did early on.  They have a pretty good line up; they’re hitting close to .300 coming into this weekend, and that is pretty good in this league.  He only threw a couple of change-ups and he had some good breaking balls; it was just enough to keep them off balance.”

Arkansas jumped out to an early lead as Eric Fisher drew a bases loaded walk in the first but the Hogs’ bats were quiet until the fifth. Vanderbilt helped Arkansas take a 2-0 lead as Michael Bernal scored on a wild pitch.

Brian Anderson pushed the lead to three with a RBI single, driving in Tyler Spoon.

Arkansas continues their nine game home stand on Tuesday when Northwestern State comes to Fayetteville.
