Arkansas Rolls Past Northwestern State

Arkansas pounds out 13 hits en route to an 8-1 win over Demons

Arkansas kicked off a six day stretch in which they'll five games. Tuesday they started the week off right.

The Razorbacks pounded out 13 hits and rolled to an 8-1 win over Northwestern State at Baum Stadium.

“I thought we did a nice job today offensively, continuing to battle with two outs," Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said. "We drove in four or five of those runs with two outs, one of them on an error on a ball that was hit hard.  Our offense did a good job of continuing to swing the bat until the third out was made.”

Brian Anderson led the Hogs offense with a pair of hits while driving in three runs. Blake Baxendale continued to swing a hot bat as he drove in a pair while record three hits.

“He has a done a really good job," Van Horn said of Baxendale. "He had a rough day on Sunday against Vanderbilt.  I really wanted to go back with him.  I’m sure he was ready to go and was excited to see his name in the lineup.  He took full advantage of it with three hits, a couple RBI, and getting his batting average up and that’s good to see.”

Five different Razorbacks had multiple hits on the night and gave more than enough support for the Arkansas' pitching staff.

Jackson Lowery picked up the win after throwing 3 1/3 innings while striking out four.

Arkansas and Northwestern State wrap up the two game series on Wednesday.
