Driver Was Drinking Before Deadly Motorcycle Wreck, Police Say

A deadly motorcycle accident in Sequoyah County leaves one woman dead, and sends another man to the hospital.

Investigators say the driver, Jimmie Lovell, 72, from Muldrow was drinking when he crashed on Highway 59 near Sallisaw, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Peggy Sue Taylor, 63, who was riding on the back of the bike, was pronounced dead on scene.

Lovell was taken to a Fort Smith hospital with life-threatening leg, arm and trunk injuries. There, authorities tested his blood for alcohol and determined Lovell had been drinking at the time of the accident.

As of Wednesday morning (April 23rd), Lovell is in stable condition, according to authorities.

No word yet on funeral plans for Taylor.

Why use “potentially” when injuries can be life threatening without being fatel. Not sure if reporter has a firm grip on the English language.

I know my grandpa loved Peggy very much. You all can criticize him all you want for the decision made. But remember that now he has to pay the price with his pain both physically and mentally knowing he is the reason she is no longer here. May we all learn from this. Please be respectful as you didn’t know these 2 people and how loving they were.I know my grandpa loved Peggy very much. You all can criticize him all you want for the decision made. Copy, paste, paste, paste, paste. LOL. Poor fella, he really didn’t mean to break the law by drinking and driving. He loved her so much he didn’t choose to protect her and now she is dead. Poor, poor guy!

I am anon. How disrespectful. You don’t know what happened. Now bow your head and say a prayer for them and the families involved. Then say a pray for yourself on healing your unthoughtful mind.

This was horrible accident. I was among those on the scene and tried to help. Life is unpredictable. It is not anyone else’s place to pass judgment. I just wanted to send my condolences to both families and to the survivor. Prayers for all affected.

TLovell I am Jim’s oldest daughter and the family knows how dad felt about Miss Peggy I already considered her my stepmom she was a sweet lady and dad was blessed to have her in his life. We also know he would have changed places with her if he could.

  • I am Anon too

Maxine: everyone knows what happened. Did you read the story? Man gets trashed. Man gets on motorcycle with passenger. Man wrecks motorcycle. Woman dies. Pretty cut and dried to me. Lock him up!

Anon and Anon too. I can’t believe you guys. Let the family alone. They have to read all this. Karmas gonna get you. Sitting behind your computer not putting your real names out here. Trying to sound like you know what happened. Computer Rambos. You Wouldn’t have the guts to say any of this to a real persons face. Again. Pray for their loss. Be a human. Stop being chicken.

Hello! The family brought this to a public forum. My post was a reply. Why champion the poor drunk unless you want both sides? This is simple. You drink and drive and it results in the death of another person, you deserve punishment not sympathy. Facts are facts so if the family wants a reaction by posting on a public forum, they need to be ready for the good and the bad. P.S. There are to many crazys out there to not be anon.

  • I am still Anon because of people like Maxine

LOL @ Maxine. Why are you defending the man? Are you saying that somehow he was passed a roofie while at church? He then somehow blacked out, went and drank a bunch of alcohol, ordered Peggy to hop on, and decided to ride highway 59 and the whole time he didn’t know what he was doing? Are you insane? Yea, the lady died. That is unfortunate. It is bad that she died at the hand of a drunk. That part is true. But you cannot sit there and defend him and act like he did nothing wrong, when the facts clearly state what happened. As for being a “Computer Rambo,” I believe the actual term is “Keyboard Cowboy”. :p

The story has a title “Driver Was Drinking Before Deadly Motorcycle Wreck, Police Say” and you are believing everything that you see printed up above. The facts may be spot on, but they may have been embellished also by a reporter looking to make a name for themselves. This whole story was written in a style that made things look like the driver was falling down drunk when he got on the motorcycle. We do not know that to be true. The guy might have had one beer or he may have been drunk. In any event please use a little respect for your fellow human beings.

I’m praying for you & your family, & I feel your pain. Your mother was too young to leave, & so tragically, but be consoled by the belief that she is in peace with God. I’ll pray for Mr. Lovell & his loss, too.

MY dad did LOVE MISS PEGGY and they were good for each other they found their true loves late in life, he is paying emotionally right now. He would never have done anything to hurt her. So those of you that live in glass houses go ahead and throw those stones. YOU don’t know all the facts as usual just what the news puts out there and they are out there for the headlines and report before they know everything just to be the first to report something. Thanks to the people out there that are praying for both families it is much appreciated.
