The search is on in Haskell County, Okla., for an inmate considered to be dangerous. And this isn't the first time the inmate has escaped there.
Haskell County Sheriff Brian Hale is searching for Edward Branch, Jr.
"We are on the third day," Hale said.
Branch escaped Tuesday (April 22) around 1 a.m. from the county's detention center.
"He's escaped before," said Hale.
The first escape was in February.
Investigators said this time, he was able to enter a plumbing section of the jail and use a rope he made to break free.
Deputies said Branch busted through a drain on the roof of the jail. From there, he repelled to the ground using the rope. Hall said the depth is about a 25-foot drop.
Locals said search teams have packed Stigler.
Stigler local James Plumber believes Branch is “hiding in the woods."
Hale said the jailers who were watching Branch have not been suspended or fired.
Hale said re-training plans are in the works for the employees working the night Branch broke free.
Branch was in the jail after being convicted of aggravated assault, robbery and burglary this month.
Hale said he has been there since June of 2013 and was waiting on a transfer to a state prison.
