Medical Condition May Have Caused 12-Vehicle Wreck

Twelve vehicles were involved in a wreck in Fort Smith Saturday afternoon (April 26) that sent three people to the hospital.

Fort Smith Police said the accident happened at the intersection of Kelley Highway and Midland Boulevard just after 2 p.m. after an officer tried to pull over a Nissan pickup truck for running a red light.

“The passenger of the vehicle called 911, said that her father was having some sort of medical issue and the Nissan continued on Kelley at the intersection of Midland and Kelley and collided with a couple of vehicles,” said Sgt. Brandon Bird.

According to police four cars were involved in the initial accident and the Nissan crashed into eight other cars at Yasin’s Used Car Lot. Three people were taken to the hospital. Police said the man driving the Nissan pickup had life-threatening injuries.

Police had to close down part of Kelley Highway and Midland Boulevard as investigators reconstructed the accident.

I pray the gentleman and his daughter along with the others involved will be okay. The report says that the gentleman had life threatening injuries. I don’t believe that the car dealer is as worried about “insurance” as you are Dan! Dana, you showed grace and kindness in your post. No doubt your uncle has suffered a financial upset, but I do hope he was not injured in this accident.
