A woman was injured Monday (April 28) in a Sequoyah County wreck on I-40, authorities say.

Around 1 p.m. this afternoon, a woman in a Honda Accord with Oklahoma tags was taken to Sparks Regional Medical Center to be evaluated, according to authorities.

The wreck happened in the westbound lane of I-40 west of Dora just before the construction zone for the new Oklahoma weigh station that is being built.

Authorities say it appears she ran off the right side of the road, over-corrected, and then came back across the highway, crashing into the wooden median.

She was conscious when they loaded her in the ambulance.

The Roland Fire Department helped get her out of the vehicle and into the ambulance.

Her car knocked down several small trees before coming to rest in a grove of larger trees.

Authorities say they aren’t sure yet what caused the accident. They don’t know if she had a medical condition, and they’re not releasing the name until relatives are notified.
