McKenzie Dixon may not have thought she had a chance to set the Bentonville record for goals in a season, but then she played the last two matches.

Dixon scored five times against Van Buren Friday night, giving her 29 on the season. She is now just three goals shy of tying the school record.

"I was getting close to it and he and I kind of joked around saying 'oh if you get five goals you'll be able to blow it out of the water'," Dixon said. "I didn't actually think I was going to get five goals a game but the past two games I've been able to and now I'm closer than ever."

The Lady Tigers improved to 5-1 in the 7A/6A-West with a 7-0 win against Van Buren.

Bentonville's boys team had no problems either as they posted an 8-0 win over the Pointers.

The Tigers are now a perfect 5-0 in league play with just two matches left in the regular season.
