A Prairie Grove man has been arrested after lying to authorities about whether or not he had a missing juvenile in his home that they were looking for, police say.

Paul Pitts, 41, was arrested by the Prairie Grove Police Department and booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Friday (May 2), according to detention center records.

A spokesperson for the Prairie Grove Police Department confirmed that they were assisting Benton County authorities with a missing juvenile case.

The juvenile had reportedly been missing for a few weeks, according to the spokesperson.

When authorities arrived at the residence of Pitts, he reportedly lied about whether or not the juvenile was in his home.

He was caught after he and the juvenile ran out the back door of his residence, fleeing authorities, the spokesperson said.

Pitts was arrested at his residence and transported to the Washington County Detention Center. The spokesperson said he bonded out of jail, but he faces charges of obstructing governmental operations and hindering apprehension or prosecution.

The spokesperson confirmed that the juvenile was returned home safely afterwards.
