Most high school students get summer fever once the calendar rolls over to May.
Lauren Delnuovo isn't an average student at Van Buren, though.
The 16-year old gymnast is headed to compete in a national meet this weekend in Boise, Idaho but she never thought she'd make it this far.
"Honestly I didn’t think I would get to this level but I have two great coaches and they knew I could get this far," Delnuovo said.
Exactly how far Delnuovo has gotten is quite impressive. She's reached the level nine stage of in the world of gymnastics, with it capping out at 10.
"What makes Lauren special is gymnastics is not always perfect and you make mistakes," co-coach Mike Didion said. "She’s able to make mistakes but keep going and move through and get to the next event and win it."
Delnuovo has won the state bars title each of the past four years.
Delnuovo kicks off competition on Sunday in Boise.
