Springdale Police are looking for a man who claimed he was shot, but now police say that shooting was accidental.

Dakota Rogers, 35, is wanted for felony Filing a False Police Report, according to Lt. Derek Hudson.

Rogers walked into the Northwest Medical Center emergency room around 12:30 a.m. Monday (May 5th) with gunshot wounds, according to Sgt. Chad Niccum of the Springdale Police Department.

Rogers was taken into surgery for wounds to his abdomen and wrist, according to the department.

Rogers told police he got a ride from the Northwest Arkansas Mall to the Shiloh Express gas station on S. Thompson in Springdale. According to Niccum, Rogers told them he started walking to a friend’s house near the Links Apartments along 40th street when four men in a white car came up to him.

Rogers spoke to the men until one pulled a gun and shot him, according to the victim’s statement.

The victim told officers he waved down another car and was taken to the emergency room. Detectives were notified and arrived at the hospital.

Officers went to the scene and didn’t find anything, according to the police department.

Hudson said Friday (May 23) the shooting was found to be accidental.

Rogers and another man were manipulating a weapon when it went off, hitting Rogers, according to Hudson.
