On Tuesday (May 6), Thunder player Kevin Durant was named the 2013-2014 NBA MVP. Our Oklahoma City sister station KFOR-TV was there when Durant gave an emotional acceptance speech.
During the news conference, Durant thanked God, his coach, teammates, and the NBA. When it came to his family, Durant became especially tearful thanking his Mother for all of her support.
“We weren’t supposed to be here. You made us believe. You kept us off the street, put clothes on our back, food on the table”, said Durant, “When you didn’t eat, you made sure we ate. You went to sleep hungry, you sacrificed for us. You’re the real MVP.”
