CNN – The latest grades for the nation’s report card are in, and it shows 12th graders have not improved in reading or science since 2009, according to the 2013 National Assessment of Educational Progress study.

The study states 38% of high school seniors scored at or above “proficient” in reading.

It also states 26% hit or exceeded the proficient mark in math. That’s roughly about the same as the results in 2009.

Asian/pacific islanders took the top spot in both reading and math. African Americans scored the lowest in both categories, according to the study.

On FB, the spelling is horrendous by some. On Twitter, there seems to be a more highly educated group as far as spelling. When the Greenwood school children were commenting about the Confederate flag at the high school, there were lots of comments that were incorrectly spelled.

My friends who are teachers are both liberal and conservative. One has nothing to do with the other. If there were unions, retirements would be safe (Enron, etc.), salaries would meet livable wages, a boss could not fire an employee without just cause, etc. Policemen, firemen, civil service employees, postal employees, are all unionized. Don’t think I have ever seen you fret about that Mr. Sambo?
