Many local organizations have been lending a helping hand to  tornado victims in Central Arkansas.

The Fraternal Order of Police in Van Buren held a tornado relief drive at the Walmart on Highway 59 on Saturday (May 10). The group collected cleaning supplies, food for pets and items like diapers and wipes for babies.

One of their members went to Mayflower last week to volunteer at a supply center. After seeing the destruction, he and other members wanted to do more, so they organized the drive.

"Words can not really express how bad it is until you are there and you see it," said George Edelen, Fraternal Order of Police President. "Pictures and video does not do it justice. It's demoralizing when you go there and see the tragedy that's struck that area."

Members of the Fraternal Order of Police plan to take the items collected to the tornado stricken area on Monday, May 12th.
