Telecommunications giant AT&T is expected to strike a deal buying DirecTV for $50 billion, according to a report from CNET.
The purchase would let AT&T expand its television footprint in the United States. DirecTV is the number two satellite TV provider, with 20 million subscribers, and AT&T has 5.7 million cable customers, according to CNET.
AT&T approached DirecTV about a deal after Comcast announced its deal with Time Warner Cable in February, CNET reported.
