Thousands Pack Downtown Fayetteville’s Block Party

What started as a celebration for a street opening has now become a Fayetteville tradition.

What started as a celebration for a street opening has now become a Fayetteville tradition. Thousands turned out for the fourth annual Block St. Block Party on Sunday (May 18).

Organizers said there were 145 booths from Dickson St. to Mountain St. The spaces included pony rides and Velcro walls for the kids, along with a beer garden and food vendors for adults.

The event brought in about 8,000 people in 2013. This year organizers estimate between 10,000 and 12,000 came out for the party.
