A bomb threat led to students being evacuated from a Van Buren school on Monday morning (May 19), according to a parent alert text message sent out from the district.

A 13-year-old male student has since been arrested on suspicion of communicating a false alarm (felony), according to Detective Wear with the Van Buren Police Department.

Wear said the suspect is a student of the school.

Authorities responded to a threat found on a bathroom stall at 9:45 a.m., according to Wear. The threat was written in pencil saying that there was a bomb in the building.

The school was identified as Northridge Middle School, officials say.

Authorities searched the building to find anything suspicious, but they didn’t find anything. Students were returned to class shortly after, according to the text message.
