Booneville police are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

The shooting took place around 10:30 p.m. Monday (May 19) on Broadway Street, according to Booneville Police Chief Albert Brown.

Roy Wingate, 36, is in jail as a suspect. He’s accused of shooting Aaron Henry, 24, in his right leg with a shotgun. Henry is at UAMS in Little Rock where he is listed in stable condition awaiting surgery from the shotgun blast, according to authorities.

Wingate will remain in the Booneville city jail until the prosecuting attorney’s office decides on charges, according to Chief Brown. He said detectives have interviewed witnesses as the investigation continues.
