Kids Raise Money For Crisis Center

Teachers and kids from the Van Buren Freshman Academy were able to raise $1,100.

Teachers and kids from the Van Buren Freshman Academy were able to raise $1,100. The donation went to the clients at the Donald W. Reynolds Fort Smith Crisis Intervention Center. The money was raised through the 3rd annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event that took place Friday (May 23).

Participants did this in the form of the Basketeers Program. Those involved went on a shopping trip and got things together for the baskets.  They bought bed, bath, and kitchen items for the women who went through the Crisis Center.

"We go and fill up these baskets with things that they can use in their new lives and beginnings," Van Buren Coach Brandy Mosby said.

The students and teachers were able to stuff 10 of the baskets.
