Siloam Springs Wins Girls 6A Soccer Title On Penalty Kicks

Siloam Springs blew a two-goal lead to Mountain Home, but eventually won it in penalty kicks 3-0.

The Siloam Springs girls soccer team got redemption Friday night, winning the 6A State Championship, 3-2, over Mountain Home in penalty kicks (3-0).

Siloam Springs gave up a big lead, but did not get rattled in the end.

The Lady Panthers went up 2-0 with 16 minutes left in the game on a goal by Ana Linch, but Mountain Home responded with two quick goals to send it to extra time.

Once in the penalty kick session Siloam Springs goalie Bailei Brown became the hero, stopping every shot she faced.

"It's amazing," said Brown. "I don't even know how to describe it. We worked so hard and earned this. We got what we earned."

Siloam Spring lost in the title game to Searcy last season, but never let that get in their heads when Mountain Home made a comeback.

"For the first time ever in a playoff game I knew we had this," said Siloam Springs coach Jason Bowen. "I kept believing in the girls and they put pressure on them. I felt like we'd come through with something there."
