A Centerton water main broke over the weekend (May 24 and May 25), causing thousands of gallons of wastewater to be discharged into McKisic Creek, according to a news release from the Arkansas Department of Health.
The main was a transmission force main, and it caused between 200,000 and 400,000 gallons of wastewater to discharge into the creek, the release states.
The creek flows northeast out of Centerton into Bella Vista’s Little Sugar Creek.
The main has been repaired, and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has been notified, according to the release.
Bella Vista Village’s drinking water has not been affected by the main break, according to Mike Taggart, Director of the Bella Vista Village Water Department.
