The city of Centerton is building a concrete trail around the Centerton Lake at Highway 102 and Sienna Drive.
Ricky Hudson, streets superintendent, said they've cleared the area and installed a wooded bridge. He said it's been a project three years in the making.
"We've become a first class town, were becoming a growing town, an extremely fast growing town," Hudson said. "This is our first attempt at developing our own trail system in connecting into the main trail system and were excited about that."
This project is being built by the Centerton Parks Department along with labor provided by the Benton County Sheriffs office.
"They were here early, stayed late, and they were working 14 hour days," Hudson said. "We really want to recognize them and the help they gave us."
The city received a $25,000 grant from the state. They also received donations from Walmart, the Parks and Recreations Department, and the Advertising and Promotions Commission.
The concrete trail is expected to be complete by next week.
