A Fayetteville man was arrested Wednesday (May 28) after he kicked in his girlfriend’s door and refused to allow her to leave him, according court documents.

The man was identified as Samuel J. Mayhall, 21, according to a preliminary report from the Fayetteville Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Wynstone Dr. in Fayetteville in response to a report of a disturbance.

The victim told police that she had a fight with her boyfriend and went into her bedroom to pack things and leave. She locked the door, the report states.

After refusing to let him in, the victim said Mayhall kicked in her door and stood in the doorway refusing to allow her to leave, according to the report.

The victim was eventually able to physically push him out of the way and went toward her car. Mayhall then grabbed a large kitchen knife and followed her, the report states.

He said he was going to cut himself with the knife and made a small cut on his forearm. He even sat in her driver’s seat, not allowing her to leave.

The victim stated she was scared of Mayhall and, “needed a break from the situation.”

Authorities arrived at the residence and arrested Mayhall. He faces charges of domestic assault – 3rd degree and false imprisonment – 2nd degree, according to the report.
