Frank Broyles gave more than 50 years to the University of Arkansas and now former players, coaches and colleagues are giving back.
Broyles is officially stepping away from the school after having a role in some fashion since 1958. His family wasn't going to let him fade away without a proper send off and plenty of big names will be on hand to say goodbye.
"I think the thing that is most impactful is the willingness to reach out and not because of the national championship or the bowl wins but because of the influence he had as a person," grand daughter Molly Arnold Gay said.
Broyles' contract expires on June 30 and that is when the longtime coach and athletic director will step away from the school he loves.
"It’s so touching just to see everybody’s excitement and they’ll ‘oh yeah, I want to come’ and be there or if I can’t be there, I want to send a video," daughter Betsy Broyles Arnold said.
Former Razorback and current Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will speak prior to a round of golf on Friday at Paradise Valley Golf Club then the festivities will wrap up Saturday night at the John Q. Hammons Center. Video messages from the likes of Lou Holtz, Jim Nantz and others will be shown along with appearances from Houston Nutt as well as many others.
Broyles has been involved with the Razorbacks for 56 years but to him it wasn't just a job, it became part of his life to call the Hogs.
"It's the Razorback passion," Arnold Gay said. "He bleeds Razorback red. He always says if he wrote a book it would be ‘The Charmed Life of a Razorback’ so we have red flowers and red table decorations and that’s what it is. It’s all things Razorback excitement."
