The Muldrow Police Department arrested a man on June 5 on suspicion of raping a 9-month-old girl, according to a Facebook post on the police department’s page.
Officers were notified by Summit Medical Center staff in Van Buren of a physical/sexual abuse victim. Police went to a residence in the 100 block of Northwest 3rd Street in Muldrow and spoke with Nathan Byrd, 27, according to the Facebook post.
Statements were taken by law enforcement, a preliminary examination was done by Hamilton House and Byrd was arrested on suspicion of rape, the Facebook post states.
On June 6, the infant was given a complete examination, and it was revealed she had a broken arm from approximately two weeks earlier and a skull fracture, according to the Facebook post.
The infant was transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital and released on June 9, the Facebook post states.
The investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be filed.
Byrd faces a charge of rape – 1st degree.
