Former Arkansas first baseman Eric Fisher has signed a professional contract with the Miami Marlins.
Fisher was selected in the 17th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft and was one of six Razorbacks taken. He joins Brian Anderson who signed with the Marlins and Chris Oliver who inked with the Phillies as the only Arkansas players to sign professional contracts so far.
Fisher became one of the top power hitters in the Southeastern Conference during the 2014 season, recording a team-high nine home runs, 45 runs batted in and a .268 batting average.
He ended the year with a 10-game reached base streak after earning second team All-SEC honors and being selected to the All-Defensive Team.
