The Centerton Walmart Neighborhood Market opened Wednesday (June 18) with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. Mayor Bill Edwards is expected to give a few words and Walmart will give the town a $6,000 grant.

The new store created 95 jobs.

The company placed Store Manager Donna Shultz in charge of this neighborhood market store #6953.

"I'm so excited to be able to serve the community of Centerton," Shultz said. "It has been a wonderful partnership so far."

She's been with Walmart for almost 14 years. The last store she managed was in Miami, Florida.

"I've had the opportunity to work in the community with Mayor Edwards and they have just embraced us with open arms," Shultz said. "The associates have been volunteering in the community. It's just been a true blessing for all of us."

The grand opening co-insides with Centerton's 100th year anniversary.

"This is a great location because a lot of growth is in this part of Benton County right in West Bentonville and here in Centerton," said Mayor Bill Edwards.

Six thousand dollar grant:

  • $2,500 will go to Centerton's Fire Department.
  • $2,000 for benches around the park and lake.
  • $500 to the Literacy Council of Benton County
  • $500 to the NWA Women's Shelter
