Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials say drivers in the Fort Smith and Van Buren area can expect some road closures this week.
The bridge across the Arkansas River on Highway 64 between Fort Smith and Van Buren will have a routine inspection this week.
The work will require closing the eastbound and westbound outside lanes.
Officials said the eastbound outside lane will be closed on Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24 between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The westbound outside lane will be closed on Wednesday, June 25 and Thursday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as well.
AHTD says drivers can expect these closures as long as weather permits the bridge inspections.
Motorist are encouraged to exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway and work zones.
