Springdale police arrested Olson Lejjena, 29, Monday (June 23) on suspicion of DWI and failure to submit to a breath test.

Lejjena crashed into a gas main at the intersection of Old Wire Road and Dodd Avenue causing a gas leak.

The single-vehicle accident happened around 2:15 a.m., according to authorities.

Source Gas crews were at the site for hours repairing the damaged gas main. Early in the morning, they deemed the gas leak safe and didn't evacuate any homes nearby.

Lt. Derek Hudson said based on the officers' report, the suspect was "highly intoxicated."

"He refused to take any field sobriety test," Hudson said. "They placed him in custody for suspicion of DWI, brought him to the station, attempted to give him a breath test here at the station and he also refused that."

Hudson said this is Lejjena's second DWI in the last 5 years. He faces DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test in violation of state law and also driving on a suspended license.

Lejjena remains in the Springdale Jail. His bond is set at $1,100.

In Arkansas, the first three DWIs are a misdemeanor.
