A Springdale man tried to outrun the law early Tuesday morning (June 24), but he didn’t get far thanks to a K-9 unit, according to a preliminary arrest report.

Jeff Yeakley, 28, was arrested after police said he threatened a man with a knife, robbed him at a motel and then fled authorities when they went after him, the report states.

At 3:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, the victim said that a female friend came to his room at a motel in Springdale and asked to borrow some headphones. She was with the suspect, and the victim let them both in, according to the report.

When inside, Yeakley started to ask the victim if he “was a snitch,” and he then punched him in the jaw. After that, he pulled out a knife and threatened to stab him if he moved. Yeakley then stole three items from the victim, a baseball cap, a silver cigarette tin and a mini flashlight, the report states.

Springdale Police responded and later located Yeakley walking on Thompson Avenue. When they found him, Yeakley fled on foot, but he was unable to get far because a K-9 unit chased him down, allowing police to arrest him, according to the report.

The suspect was booked into the Washington County Detention Center and faces charges of terroristic threatening – 1st degree, flight on foot, battery – 3rd degree and theft of property, the report states.
