Stacy Lewis is coming off a second place finish at the U.S. Open last weekend at Pinehurst No. 2, but being back home in Rogers at the Walmart NWA Championship brings even more pressure than a major.

“For me it's almost harder to play here than it is at a major championship,” said Lewis. “It's great that everyone wants me to win and wants me to play well but to not put that pressure on yourself is really hard.”

Lewis has already won two major championships, but winning here is a completely different emotion. The home course advantage is ridiculous.

“The players joke that they always know where I am on the golf course judging by the Hog calls and where all the fans are,” said Lewis.

What has these fans even more riled up is her No. 1 world ranking. She had it last year, too, but lost it coming in to this event.

“Now it's staying there and how am I going to stay there and it's exactly what I did to get here,” said Lewis. “You don't change anything you don't do anything different.”

Regaining world No. 1 isn't the only honor Lewis has received recently. She was named to the UA Sports Hall of Honor, something she never would have imagined seven years ago.

“Everything I've gotten to do along the way is such a blessing and I don't think it would have happened if I went to school anywhere else,” said Lewis. “So I feel like I owe a lot to this place and this university and town. Just to be able to come back and say thank you will be pretty cool.”
