The Big Bass Bonanza is a 300 mile stretch of fishing along the Arkansas River. The event kicks off Friday June 27.
The fishing takes place from Fort Smith to east of Dumas with five fishing pools for anglers to weigh in at.
The recent heavy rainfall presents a concern.
“We`ve had a lot of rain but we`ve been able to control it,” said equipment mechanic supervisor for the Lock & Dam No. 13 Gordon Hamblin.
Hamblin said the fishers have nothing to worry about with the recent rain, but do need to be mindful of other conditions.
“Right now it`s windy,” Hamblin said. “It`s going to be choppy out there."
The tournament goes from Friday to Sunday.
The angler who lands the largest fish in the three-day tournament takes home $50,000.
The entrance fee for the tournament is $80 per day.
In 2013, the tournament distributed $202,000 in prizes.
