A Fayetteville man was arrested after police say he tied a knife to a stick and attacked his roommate with it and other weapons on June 26, threatening to kill him, according to a preliminary report.
Police arrived at the victim’s residence in the 1300 block of North Dawn Drive in Fayetteville in reference to an armed person call, and when they arrived, the suspect fled into a wooded area near railroad tracks, the report states.
The victim told police that Frank Dyer, 21, was armed with a two by four with a nail attached and a glass shard. Police later found Dyer wandering south by the railroad tracks. When they approached, he threw down his board and fled into another wooded area west of the railroad tracks. He was still armed with his glass shard and knife, according to the report.
Police found him once more and ordered him to approach them. They had tasers ready to take Dyer down when he threw down his weapons and walked over to police. He was placed into cuffs and police retrieved the glass shard and knife. They saw the knife was a kitchen steak knife tied to a two-foot-long stick, the report states.
The victim told police that Dyer had become upset with him and broke out a window at the victim’s residence. Then, Dyer chased the victim down the road with the glass shard and board threatening to kill him, according to the release.
The victim took shelter in a neighbor’s house, but Dyer came in and again threatened to kill the victim. He swung the board at the victim, hitting him with it before he was eventually forced out by the residents of the home, the release states.
Dyer was booked into the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and is being held on a $5,000 bond, according to the jail’s intake report. He faces charges of terroristic threatening – first degree, aggravated assault, fleeing and carrying a weapon, according to the release.
